Although part of the attention of Obsidian’s followers remains focused on rumors about the future of Fallout, the studio continues working to expand one of its most recent projects. After a well-received launch, the team already has a major update ready, promising to change the gaming experience with a huge amount of additional content.

The developer has shared a new video dedicated to Into the Abyss, a free expansion that will arrive in just a few weeks, adding new areas to explore, new enemies and mechanics that will further expand the game’s possibilities.

Into the Abyss arrives on August 11 with new biomes and underwater construction

Obsidian has confirmed that Into the Abyss will be available on August 11 for Grounded 2 on Xbox Series, PC, and Xbox Game Pass, coinciding with the game’s launch on PlayStation 5.

• Pond Depths

Each of these areas will incorporate new secrets, resources, weapons, equipment, and mutations, allowing players to continue developing their characters as they explore new areas of the vast garden where the adventure takes place.

One of the most striking features will be the inclusion of modules for building underwater bases, a feature that will open the door to exploring the depths of Pond Depths and other aquatic environments that were previously inaccessible.

The update will also bring back some creatures well-known to players of the first Grounded, including the return of koi carp and the always-dangerous ticks, which will once again become a significant challenge during expeditions.

With Into the Abyss, Obsidian continues to bet on expanding the Grounded 2 experience for free, offering one of the most ambitious updates since its launch. The new video published by the studio makes it clear that the content will not be limited to adding new areas, but will also significantly expand the options for exploration, survival, and construction for all players.
