A new leak has shed light on Halo Studios’ plans for the future of the franchise after the change of stage from 343 Industries. According to information shared by Rebs Gaming, the studio considered developing three Halo games in just three years, although this roadmap would have changed completely over time.
As with any leak, it’s best to take these details with caution, as Microsoft and Halo Studios have not officially confirmed this information. Nevertheless, Rebs Gaming’s track record of following the saga’s news has generated intense debate among the community.
Three projects, but only Campaign Evolved is moving forward
According to Rebs Gaming, the initial planning included three major projects:
- Halo: Campaign Evolved, which is still in development.
- Project Ecker, a new game focused on multiplayer.
- A new main Halo campaign.
However, according to the leak, only Campaign Evolved would have survived the studio’s internal changes.
Project Ecker would have changed several times before being canceled
One of the most striking pieces of information is related to Project Ecker. According to Rebs Gaming, the project was born as the known Tatanka, a battle royale set in the Halo universe. Later, it evolved into a hybrid between extraction shooter and large-scale combat, before returning to the idea of a battle royale again.
Finally, the project would have been canceled altogether.
- It was never intended to include Halo’s classic multiplayer modes.
- The studio had difficulty managing multiple projects at the same time.
- The new main campaign never took off due to planning and direction issues.
- Currently, there would be no other main Halo game in full production, beyond early ideas and concepts.
There’s also talk of remakes and possible content for Campaign Evolved
The information shared by Rebs Gaming adds other details about the state of the franchise. Among them, it’s mentioned that there’s uncertainty about the rumored remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3, while the possibility of a Halo-based MMO would have been completely ruled out, as, according to the source, no one within the studio would be aware of such a project.
- Additionally, the content creator claims that Halo Studios would be exploring the possibility of developing additional content for Campaign Evolved, although nothing is definitive yet.
For now, all this information should be treated as a leak. It will be necessary to wait for future official announcements from Halo Studios to verify how much truth there is to these supposed plans and to know what the true future of one of Xbox’s most important franchises will be.
