After learning about the imminent closure of other online services by Electronic Arts, many players have begun to wonder if this time the end is closer than expected for a title that has managed to stay alive for over a decade.
The alarm was raised after a message shared on Reddit, where several users began to notice that it is no longer possible to renew or create new private servers on some platforms. The problem affects especially those who managed customized spaces for years and has awakened the fear that a definitive shutdown of their online services is being prepared. Is Battlefield 4 close to losing official support?
The original message was posted on July 10 by a Reddit user who has been managing servers on console for over five years. In their case, they recount how for the past month the option to renew or create new spaces has disappeared, making it impossible to keep the community that had formed around it active. Other hosts have confirmed the same problem, indicating that the change is not isolated.
For now, there is no official statement from EA about the current or future state of the service.
