Microsoft has started distributing the July update for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, a new version of the system that introduces numerous improvements aimed at making the user experience more comfortable and customizable. After several weeks of testing in the Xbox Insider program, the new features are starting to arrive for all users.
The update doesn’t revolutionize the console’s interface, but it does incorporate a long list of adjustments that affect important elements such as the home panel, system customization, controller management, and the display of installed games. Small changes have also been made to streamline access to certain system options.
These are the main new features of the July update for Xbox
- Greater customization of the console, even when not connected to the internet.
- New color options to customize the home panel.
- The Gamertag limit increases from 12 to 15 characters.
- Faster access to home screen settings.
- A renewed indicator to detect potential issues with the Xbox network.
- Libraries now display the official vertical covers of installed games, offering a cleaner and more similar look to the Xbox Store.
- The controller management app now accurately identifies the exact model of the connected wireless controller when performing firmware updates or functionality tests.
Microsoft continues to refine the Xbox experience
Although many of these improvements may seem small individually, together they contribute to a more intuitive and modern system. Microsoft maintains its strategy of constantly updating Xbox, introducing new features and responding to suggestions from the community and the Xbox Insider program.
Meanwhile, rumors continue to circulate about future Xbox-related news, including a possible feature to facilitate the management of physical games in digital format. However, for now, Microsoft has not made any official announcement, so we’ll have to wait to learn about their next plans.
