After many years of being one of the most repeated requests by the community, Xbox has officially activated an improvement that will allow thousands of players to customize their profile much better. It’s a simple change on paper, but highly anticipated by those who had been wanting to use a longer gamertag for a long time.
The new feature is already part of the latest system update and is available to all compatible users, eliminating one of the limitations that had been accompanying Xbox for years.
Gamertags can now have up to 15 characters
The main novelty of this update is that gamertags go from a maximum of 12 to 15 characters, offering three additional spaces to create more personalized names without needing to resort to abbreviations or numbers. This change will allow many players to recover names they couldn’t use before due to the length limitation, as well as facilitate the creation of new, more representative gamertags.
Although it may seem like a minor modification, it was one of the most requested improvements by the community for years, and Microsoft has finally decided to incorporate it as part of the latest Xbox ecosystem updates. The feature is already available and can be used through the usual gamertag change process, following the naming rules established by Xbox.
