Although State of Decay 3 is still slated to arrive at some point in 2027, fans of the series have just gotten their most extensive look at the game since its announcement. A new video published by content creator Brian Menard shows a whopping 72 minutes of unedited gameplay from an Alpha version of the highly anticipated Xbox exclusive.
This is a rare opportunity to see how the project from Undead Labs is evolving beyond the trailers we’ve seen so far, although the video’s author himself has made it clear that the material does not represent the final quality of the product.
Exploration, Infestations, and Survival in the Biggest Look at State of Decay 3
According to Brian Menard, the studio has allowed him to share this experience with the goal of showing how the development is currently progressing. The video reveals many of the systems that will be part of the adventure:
- Exploration and scavenging for supplies.
- Resource management and survival.
- Vehicle driving.
- Plague nests and infestations.
- Zombie combat.
- Early hours of progression and community building.
As is logical in an Alpha version, the material presents incomplete animations, errors, provisional elements, and systems that are still being adjusted. Even so, initial impressions from fans are being quite positive, with many highlighting that the essence of the series remains intact.
Undead Labs continues to work on one of the most important projects for Xbox Game Studios in the coming years. If there are no changes to the current plans, State of Decay 3 will arrive in 2027 and will be available from day one on Xbox Game Pass.
After several years of silence and a few cinematic trailers, this extensive demonstration allows for a much clearer idea of what the survival experience from Undead Labs will be like, and it seems that there is still plenty of room for improvement until its release.
