Absolute record: Grounded 2 surpasses the original in active players on its Steam debut

The premiere of Grounded 2 has surpassed all expectations: the game has registered more active players than its predecessor on its first day on Steam, marking a new milestone for Obsidian.

Grounded 2 is now available, and the first data leaves no room for doubt: the survival title developed by Obsidian has started on a better foot than its predecessor. According to figures shared by SteamDB, the game has reached 49,836 concurrent players on its release, thus surpassing the peak of 32,000 that the first Grounded achieved four years ago.

The new title, available since July 29, is still in the early access phase, which makes these numbers even more valuable. The interest of the community and the first impressions suggest that this sequel has managed to capture both veterans and new players, a success.

A larger, more dynamic, and full-of-threats garden, Grounded 2 triumphs on its first day of sale

Grounded 2 maintains the essence of the original: a group of miniature protagonists must survive in a domestic garden turned into a hostile world. However, the sequel greatly expands the scale and variety of the environment.

Among the most important new features compared to the first game:

• Much larger map with areas like an old shed, a humid underbrush, and underground areas.

• Dynamic weather system, with rain, fog, and wind that affect gameplay.

• Improved crafting and new survival mechanics.

• New creatures, including more aggressive predators and social insects that act in coordinated swarms.

Although the game is still in active development, what has been seen so far makes it clear that Obsidian has learned from the first installment and has opted to offer a more ambitious and complete experience from the start.
