Valve has surprised the PC community with an announcement that few expected at this time. The company has confirmed that both new Steam Machines and Steam Frame will hit the market this summer, expanding its hardware ecosystem beyond Steam Deck.
The information has arrived alongside the expansion of the Steam compatibility verification program. Until now, the Steam Deck Verified label was used to indicate which games worked correctly on Valve’s handheld, but the company wants users to have the same clarity on their upcoming devices.
Valve expands the Steam ecosystem beyond Steam Deck
According to the company itself, the goal is for players to know from the start what experience each game will offer on Steam Machines and Steam Frame, without the need for additional configurations or complex adjustments.
Although Valve has not yet detailed the complete specifications of both devices, the shared image shows what appears to be a new compact Steam Machine alongside a virtual reality viewer identified as Steam Frame.
- For now, no specific release date or official prices have been announced, but the fact that Valve is already talking about a summer launch suggests that we won’t have to wait too long to learn more details.
