Xbox signs a spectacular resurgence in the US with an 86% increase in console sales

The Xbox Series consoles have had one of their best months in the United States during 2026. According to Mat Piscatella, executive director and video game analyst at Circana, Microsoft recorded its best month of the year in console sales in June, with an increase of 86% compared to the same period in 2025.

In addition to the strong increase in units sold, Piscatella notes that the average selling price also increased, a particularly striking fact considering the recent price hikes applied to the Xbox Series family.

Xbox bounces back strong after a complicated 2025

The analyst explains that part of this growth is due to the fact that June 2025 was a particularly weak month for Xbox. At that time, factors such as the announced price increase by Microsoft and the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 coincided, circumstances that significantly reduced sales.

• Still, Piscatella considers the results to be very positive and highlights that it is the largest volume of Xbox Series sales in the United States so far in 2026.

Forza, GTA, and Microsoft’s strategy may have driven sales

When delving into the possible causes of this growth, Piscatella points to several factors that may have contributed to Xbox’s good moment. Among them, he mentions the interest generated by Forza, the expectation surrounding GTA 6, Microsoft’s recent strategic changes, and some specific promotions made during the month.

However, he insists that the growth must be interpreted taking into account that the comparison starts from a relatively low base. Still, he concludes that any positive boost is good news for the brand, especially at a time when Xbox continues to strengthen its ecosystem with new releases, Game Pass, and the expansion of its services to PC and the cloud.
