The past few days have been filled with negative news related to Ubisoft’s canceled projects, many of which were highly anticipated by the community, such as the remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Many of the developers who were working on these truncated projects ended up being relocated to other teams, one of which is responsible for the sequel to Beyond Good and Evil.
Fawzi Mesmar, the creative director of the production, confirmed through his LinkedIn profile that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development and continues to progress despite the French company’s restructuring.
The Long Development of Beyond Good & Evil 2
The story of Beyond Good & Evil 2 is already old news, considering that the game was announced in 2008 and was put back on the radar in 2017. Almost a decade after that second announcement, there are still no concrete release dates and information about the title is scarce.
The creator of the original game, Michel Ancel, retired from the world of video games in 2020 and four years later stated that the problem with the sequel lay in the conflicts between Ubisoft’s directors regarding what was expected from the production.
