The confirmation that Grand Theft Auto VI will arrive on November 19th in box format with a download code surprised many players. However, a new rumor claims that this situation could be only temporary and that Rockstar plans to launch a traditional physical edition with a disc before the end of the year.

For now, there is no official confirmation from Rockstar Games or Take-Two, so all this information should be considered as a rumor until further notice.

The disc version of GTA 6 could arrive in December

The information comes from Polish insider Graczdari, who months ago predicted that the first physical copies of GTA 6 would not include a disc, something that was finally officially confirmed.

• According to his new post, the editions that will arrive in stores on launch day will be part of the first batch, consisting of boxes with a download code. Once these units are sold out, Rockstar will replace them with a traditional physical edition with a disc, whose release is scheduled for December for both Xbox Series and other platforms.
• The insider claims that this strategy would reduce the risk of leaks during the first weeks, preventing physical copies from arriving at certain stores ahead of time, a situation that Rockstar has suffered in previous launches.

However, Take-Two previously denied that there would be a later release for a physical edition, so this new information contradicts the company’s official stance. We will have to wait to see if Rockstar finally announces this hypothetical disc version or if the boxes with the download code end up being the only physical option available for Grand Theft Auto VI.
