In the midst of the digital era, where more and more games are being sold directly from online stores, many players are still wondering what will happen to the physical format in future major releases. And now Take-Two Interactive has wanted to partially clear up doubts surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI.
During the company’s latest financial meeting, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about the growth of digital sales versus physical format and took the opportunity to leave a fairly clear message directly related to GTA 6.
Take-Two confirms that GTA 6 will maintain a strong physical component
According to Strauss Zelnick’s explanation during the session with investors, although the digital market continues to grow year after year, Grand Theft Auto VI will still have a significant presence in physical format. The executive’s exact words were:
“There will still be a big physical component for Grand Theft Auto VI.”
The statement has drawn a lot of attention because many players feared that Rockstar Games would end up betting mainly on digital versions, especially given how the industry is currently evolving. Moreover, considering the massive release that GTA 6 is expected to be, it’s logical to think that Take-Two will continue to heavily invest in physical editions, collector’s editions, and traditional distribution in stores around the world.
The situation also fuels expectations about possible special editions, console packs, and collector’s editions that could accompany the game’s release over the next few months. For now, Rockstar Games still hasn’t officially shown the different available editions or the game’s final price, although Take-Two has once again confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is still scheduled for November 19, 2026.
With the main marketing campaign set to begin this summer, everything suggests that the coming weeks could finally bring new details related to pre-orders, physical editions, and future official announcements about the highly anticipated Rockstar Games title.
