The price of GTA 6 remains one of the most talked-about topics surrounding the highly anticipated Rockstar game. Over the past few months, there has been a lot of speculation about a possible historic price increase, especially after the price hikes seen in consoles, subscriptions, and other major titles in the industry.
Now, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has spoken out again about the current economic situation and how the company is approaching the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI. And although he hasn’t confirmed specific figures, he has made it clear what philosophy they’re following.
Take-Two believes GTA 6 should offer a “superior” experience to justify the price players pay
In recent statements to IGN, Zelnick acknowledged that he is aware of the economic difficulties many players are currently facing, especially after the price increases of consoles like PlayStation 5 or services like PlayStation Plus.
However, the executive defended that Take-Two’s goal is not just to put a price on the game, but to offer an experience that fully justifies the cost. According to him, traditional video games have even reduced their real price over the past few decades if you take inflation into account.
That’s why Take-Two believes the key is to create products that players feel are truly worth the investment. And obviously, GTA 6 is currently the best example of this strategy within the company.
Meanwhile, the debate around the game’s price continues to grow almost every week. Some analysts believe that Grand Theft Auto VI could open the door to higher prices in the industry, while others point out that Rockstar and Take-Two will likely maintain a standard edition within current market values and then enhance special editions, additional content, and online services.
For now, GTA 6 is still scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 on Xbox Series and PS5, while the highly anticipated marketing campaign will officially begin this summer.
