It seems that Xbox doesn’t want to limit the future of Halo solely to new installments. A well-known leaker specializing in the franchise claims that Halo 2 and Halo 3 remakes are already in development within Halo Studios as part of the saga’s major relaunch.
The information comes from Rebs Gaming, a fairly well-known source within the Halo community, which has already correctly leaked several details related to the franchise in the past. According to the leaker, both projects are still in their early stages, but are progressing in parallel within Halo Studios.
Halo 2 and Halo 3 Remake would be part of Halo’s new future
The leak claims that Xbox currently has several Halo-related projects in the works, including:
- Halo 2 Remake
- Halo 3 Remake
- Halo 7
- A new multiplayer game known as Project Ekur
Additionally, it appears that the new games would abandon the Slipspace Engine altogether and opt for Unreal Engine 5, which Halo Studios had already confirmed as part of the franchise’s new era.
- According to Rebs Gaming, Xbox’s goal is to rebuild a significant portion of the saga using modern technology while continuing to develop new mainline games. The leaker also claims that the remakes would not depend on the commercial performance of Halo: Campaign Evolved, which is scheduled for release this year.
For now, there is no official confirmation from Microsoft or Halo Studios, so it’s best to take this information with a grain of salt. However, this isn’t the first time rumors have surfaced about the return of Halo 2 and Halo 3, as similar leaks emerged in 2025 regarding both games.
What does seem evident is that Xbox wants to bring Halo back to the forefront of its strategy and make the franchise one of the brand’s most important pillars over the next few years.
