The recent reorganization of Xbox Game Pass has generated some confusion among players, especially with the change in plans and new prices. However, according to Microsoft, as confirmed to Polygon, those who still have an active subscription to Xbox Game Pass Standard for console should think twice before canceling it.

The reason is simple: users who keep their recurring billing active will continue to enjoy the original conditions, including access to launch-day games (Day One), a benefit that is no longer available in the new Xbox Game Pass Premium plan.
Microsoft clarifies the situation for old console subscribers
Microsoft explained that players with the old console plan will not be automatically migrated to the new model as long as they keep their payments active. Once the renewal is deactivated or the subscription is canceled, they will need to choose between the new options available: Essential, Premium, Ultimate, or PC Game Pass.
Players subscribed to Xbox Game Pass for console with active recurring billing can continue their subscription. If they deactivate recurring billing, they will need to choose between Essential, Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass to rejoin the service.
Games available from day one are available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, as well as for all subscribers who still have an active subscription to Xbox Game Pass for console and active recurring billing,” a Microsoft spokesperson noted.
This means that those who maintain their original subscription will continue to pay the previous price ( $10.99 per month in the US) and keep access to launch-day games, just like before the reorganization.
Therefore, if you are one of those who still has the old version of Game Pass for console active, it is highly recommended not to cancel it, as doing so would mean losing one of the most valued benefits of the service.
