The Dead Space universe may not have said its last word. According to a recent interview with IGN, Glen Schofield, the original creator of the series and former director of The Callisto Protocol, has shown interest in reclaiming the Dead Space license if Electronic Arts were to sell it in the future.
Rumors of a privatization and restructuring of EA have sparked speculation about the possible sale of some of its studios or franchises, and Schofield seems willing to seize the opportunity. “I’ve already made some calls,” the developer stated, without offering more details on whether he has initiated formal conversations or is seeking partners to finance the project.
Glen Schofield Dreams of Reviving Dead Space
After his departure from Krafton and the closure of Striking Distance Studios, Schofield has reportedly reconnected with former collaborators, showing his desire to return to the roots of space horror that made him a key figure in the genre. The developer was responsible for the first Dead Space released in 2008, a work that redefined tension and horror design in third-person games.
For now, no project has been confirmed, nor are there any signs that EA is considering selling the intellectual property. However, in a context of internal changes and financial adjustments, a sale does not seem impossible, and that could open the door to the return of one of the most beloved franchises among horror fans.
Although everything is speculative, the mere idea of Schofield reviving Dead Space has reignited hope among fans, who dream of a Dead Space 4 capable of recapturing the essence of the original classic.
