After showcasing extensive gameplay during the Xbox Games Showcase, The Coalition has delved into numerous aspects of Gears of War: E-Day in the latest episode of the Official Xbox Podcast. The studio has explained how it’s reinventing the franchise without losing its essence, opting for a much more immersive experience, new movement systems, and a recreation of Emergence Day like never before.
In addition to confirming that the entire game has been rebuilt from scratch in Unreal Engine 5, the team has revealed numerous details about the campaign, enemies, gameplay, and the world that players will explore when the title arrives on October 6th, exclusively for Xbox Series, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.

- Wretches will appear initially without armor, as a first wave of the invasion.
- Drones will be able to attack in close combat, launching themselves directly at the player even without weapons.

The Coalition has also explained that the goal of E-Day is to recapture the feelings of the first Gears of War, but taking advantage of all the technology available today. The studio wants players to experience the Locust invasion exactly as Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago did, discovering their enemies for the first time and feeling the chaos that marked the beginning of the war.
With a release scheduled for October 6th, Gears of War: E-Day is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious productions in the history of the franchise and one of the biggest Xbox exclusives of the year.
