The Xbox Games Showcase wasn’t the only stage to learn more about Gears of War: E-Day. During the game’s special presentation, The Coalition shared new details about its multiplayer aspect, confirming that the new installment will offer a much broader experience with content designed to stay alive for a long time.
Among the most notable announcements is the arrival of a new large-scale cooperative mode, as well as the celebration of an open beta that will allow players to try the game before its release.
Gears of War: E-Day expands the Horde formula with a new mode for 12 players
- The big surprise of the event was the presentation of Horde Siege, a new PvE mode for up to 12 players that will take the classic battles against the Horde to a much larger dimension. Teams will have to work together to resist and defeat massive waves of enemies in battles where coordination will be key.
- The Coalition also confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day will feature seasonal content, designed to expand the experience with new challenges and rewards over time. According to the explanation, almost all of this content can be unlocked simply by playing, without the need for additional purchases.
- Another aspect discussed during the presentation was the presence of microtransactions, although the studio has not yet detailed how this system will work or what type of items will be available.
- Additionally, players won’t have to wait too long to try the game. The team has announced an open beta for this summer, a perfect opportunity to discover its multiplayer mechanics and experience the franchise’s new features firsthand.
With a release scheduled for October 6, 2026 and availability from day one on Xbox Game Pass, Gears of War: E-Day continues to shape up as one of Xbox’s major bets for this year. The addition of a Horde mode for 12 players and an open beta reinforce the idea that The Coalition wants to take the saga to a new dimension without losing the essence that made it a benchmark for the genre.
