Over the past few months, there has been intense speculation about a new game mode that would completely change the way we understand EA Sports FC. Now, an indirect leak has once again put the spotlight on this ambitious proposal, which is set to arrive with the next annual installment of the franchise.
This time, it’s not about images or videos from an internal test, but a legal move that hasn’t gone unnoticed by the community and could have revealed the final name of the supposed open-world mode.
EA Sports FC 27 and the clue that points to “The Grounds”
Electronic Arts has recently registered the FC The Grounds trademark, a name that clearly fits the concept of the open-world mode that has been discussed for some time. The registration even includes a description of the logo, with a triangular design that incorporates the name FC and the text THE GROUNDS in a distinctive font.
For now, there is no official confirmation from the company that this name is directly linked to EA Sports FC 27, but the context reinforces the theory. A few weeks ago, videos from a closed test circulated, showing players moving freely in an urban environment, participating in informal matches and activities that stray from traditional 11-a-side football.
If The Grounds ultimately proves to be the chosen name, we would be looking at an experience designed to expand the game’s scope, focusing on socialization, player customization, and progression similar to other open-world sports titles. For now, we have to wait for Electronic Arts to make a move and clarify whether this leak is on the right track or just another clue in an unannounced project.
