The week of Battlefield 6 has officially kicked off, and as expected, the developers are starting to reveal more information about the inner workings of the highly anticipated shooter. Among the most talked-about details, the confirmation of the tick rate for the multiplayer mode’s servers stands out.
A player directly asked David Sirland, Lead Producer of EA DICE, on social media, and he responded that Battlefield 6 will run with a tick rate of 60 Hz at launch. In other words, the server and client will sync 60 times per second, ensuring a smooth experience with less lag and greater precision in online encounters.
What does tick rate really mean in Battlefield 6
- In competitive shooters, the tick rate determines how many times per second the server updates the position, shots, and actions of each player. The higher the value, the more faithful the response is between what happens on screen and what the server records. In this case, the 60 Hz represents a solid standard that puts Battlefield 6 on par with other top titles in the genre.
Sirland also left the door open for a possible tick rate increase in the future, which could benefit more demanding or competitive modes. Additionally, he confirmed that the “lean” system (lateral inclination) will not be present, as the game introduces a new dynamic cover mechanic that allows players to automatically peek from cover.
For now, players can get ready by downloading the game, as the pre-load is already available on PC and consoles ahead of the official release on October 10th.
