With the arrival of Monument of Triumph, Bungie has put an end to a very important part of the Destiny 2 story. The update serves to close several pending plots, but it has also left a scene that is generating a lot of buzz among the community, and some players are already interpreting it as a possible hint at the future of the franchise.
Although the studio has not confirmed the development of Destiny 3, the epilogue introduces new elements that seem to go beyond the usual conclusion of an expansion.
Bungie leaves a hint about the next big threat
One of the most notable moments of the ending features Zavala, who decides to leave the leadership of the Vanguard after the events of the past few years. The reins are passed to Ikora Rey, closing an important chapter for the Guardians.
However, the scene that is generating the most theories comes later. The Guardian is called to the European Dead Zone, a very special place for veterans of the saga, where they come into contact with a mysterious entity that does not seem to be acting on behalf of the Nine.
The figure speaking through Lodi hints that there is still a much greater confrontation ahead. Although Bungie does not reveal their identity, many fans believe it is the Harvester, one of the oldest and most powerful entities in the Destiny universe.
- Precisely this detail has led part of the community to think that Bungie might be preparing the ground for the future of the franchise. The current story would be closed, but the new enemy would serve as a bridge to a completely new adventure.
For now, there is no official confirmation about Destiny 3 and the studio itself has avoided commenting on the future of the series. Still, the conclusion of Destiny 2 seems to make it clear that the universe of the Guardians still holds many secrets and that the final word may not have been written yet.
