Warhorse Studios has just surprised players by officially announcing that they are working on two new large-scale RPGs, and one of them has caught special attention due to its setting. The studio has confirmed that they are preparing a new open-world game based on Middle-earth.
The news comes accompanied by a promotional image where the team itself clearly advances the two projects in development: a new adventure related to Kingdom Come and an RPG set in the fantasy universe inspired by Tolkien’s work.
Warhorse Studios is already working on an open-world Middle-earth RPG
The studio shared the announcement on social media along with the following message:
“Maybe you’ve heard the rumors, it’s time to reveal what we’re working on.”
From there, Warhorse Studios directly confirmed:
- An open-world RPG in Middle-earth
- A new Kingdom Come adventure
For now, there are no official details about platforms, release date, or the exact focus of the new project set in Middle-earth, although the announcement has already sparked conversation among RPG fans.
The studio’s choice is also drawing a lot of attention. Warhorse made a name for itself with Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its bet on immersive open worlds, realistic combat, and a fairly deep RPG approach. Precisely because of this, many players believe that the team could fit especially well within a universe as vast as Middle-earth.
- Meanwhile, the teaser makes it clear that Warhorse is not yet ready to show gameplay or concrete details. The studio assures that it will share more information “when the time is right”.
After the huge success achieved by Kingdom Come, it seems evident that Warhorse Studios is now preparing the most ambitious leap in its history.
