As we learn more about the new Fable, the team at Playground Games has published an official FAQ section that clears up several important aspects of the highly anticipated return of the series. This information confirms some already known elements and also sheds light on the game’s focus.
The title will be a complete relaunch of the series, designed for a new generation of players. It’s not a direct continuation of the Lionhead Studios games, but rather a new beginning set once again in Albion, the world that made the franchise famous.
Everything we know about the new Fable after its official FAQ
According to the studio itself, Fable will once again bet on a vast open world filled with British humor, fantastic creatures, and moral decisions that will directly influence the development of the adventure. Players will be able to create their own hero and decide how they want to approach their story.
Among the confirmed details, several key elements of the game stand out:
- An open world set in Albion, with new areas and redesigned locations.
- A reputation system, where the player’s decisions affect how characters react.
- Combat that combines melee, ranged, and magic.
- Creatures from the series’ folklore, such as hobbes, balverines, or trolls.
- Activities outside of combat, such as working, earning money, or establishing relationships with other characters.
- Complete customization of the protagonist, with various appearance options.
The game will also allow players to live a complete life within the world, from buying properties and collecting rent to forming relationships or building a reputation that will mark how the inhabitants of Albion see you.
- Playground Games has also confirmed that Fable will be a single-player only experience, maintaining the classic action RPG focus on story and decisions.
As for its release, Fable will arrive in fall 2026 and will be available from day one on Xbox Series, Xbox Game Pass, Steam, and PlayStation 5. The studio will continue to expand on the information through its community and official channels as the release date approaches.
