Xbox seems to be adjusting the tone of its communication as it looks towards the next stage of its ecosystem. During the Game Developers Conference (GDC), Microsoft has showcased new messages on its official stand that point directly to the future of the platform and the development of the next generation.
According to Windows Central, at the Xbox stand during the event, new slogans like “Build for what’s next” and “The future of Xbox starts now” can be seen, which clearly point to the brand’s focus on what’s to come.
Xbox bets on a new message centered on the future
The new slogan appears to mark a change from the “This is an Xbox” campaign, which generated debate among part of the community. That campaign sought to explain that Xbox games could be enjoyed on multiple devices, such as mobile phones, tablets, or PCs, in addition to consoles.
However, some players interpreted that message as if the console was no longer the center of the Xbox experience. Now, the focus shown at GDC seems to be more oriented towards the development of the future of the ecosystem and the new technologies that will arrive on the platform.
The phrases that appear on Microsoft’s stand are also directed at the developers present at the event, inviting them to create with the next generation of Xbox in mind and the tools that will accompany that new stage.
This change in tone comes at a time when Microsoft is starting to speak more clearly about its plans for the future, including projects like Project Helix and new technological collaborations within the Xbox ecosystem.
With GDC as the stage, Xbox seems to want to convey a direct message to the industry: the next stage of the platform is already underway.
