Over the past few hours, several Xbox users have started alerting on Reddit about a possible change in the Microsoft Rewards redemption system. According to numerous testimonials, the number of points required to obtain digital gift cards has increased without prior official communication.

The thread, which accumulates hundreds of votes and comments, reflects a generalized feeling of surprise and frustration. Many players claim they were about to redeem their points when, overnight, the point cost skyrocketed.

Xbox gift cards now cost more points

One of the most repeated examples is the $10 gift card, which, according to several users, went from costing 9,500 points to 10,000 or 11,000 points, depending on the user’s level. In Canada, some players indicate that the $25 gift card went from 16,300 to 17,160 points.
