The arrival of Marathon is getting closer and Bungie has already confirmed that players will be able to try it out before its release through an open beta accessible to everyone. This is the first real contact with the extraction shooter that will mark the return of the mythical franchise, now with a completely renewed approach.

This beta will not be limited to invitations or prior reservations. Any player can participate without cost, which will allow them to check the gameplay approach, the pace of the matches and the general state of the title before its release scheduled for March 2026.

How to participate in the Marathon open beta step by step

The Marathon open beta does not require special registrations or early access. Bungie has opted for a direct system to facilitate participation:

According to the studio, this test is expected to take place on the weekend prior to the release, which is set for March 5, 2026, so everything points to the beta taking place between February 27 and March 2, unless there are last-minute changes.

For now, Bungie has not detailed the exact content of the beta, although access to several maps and characters is expected, as well as possible rewards that could be transferred to the final version. It will be the first real opportunity to check how Marathon fits into the genre and what sensations its competitive proposal offers.
