The recent Xbox Developer Direct not only served to showcase the immediate future of Xbox, but also to mark the beginning of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the brand. And, according to new information, this event may not be the only one of its kind in 2026.
Journalist Jez Corden, one of the closest voices to Microsoft Gaming’s internal news, has suggested that the company is seriously considering organizing a second Xbox Developer Direct by the end of this year.
Microsoft considers a new Xbox Developer Direct for late 2026
During a recent appearance on the Xbox Two podcast, Corden stated that he has heard that Microsoft is contemplating repeating the Developer Direct format in 2026, something that would fit with the number of games in development and the symbolic importance of Xbox’s anniversary. The idea would be to complement the usual Xbox Games Showcase in June with a more technical and developer-focused event, aimed at updating the status of key projects that do not yet have a release date or need a more detailed presentation.
If it happens, this new Direct could feature highly anticipated internal studios from Xbox. Among the names that are making the most noise are Gears of War: E-Day, State of Decay 3, Clockwork Revolution, or Halo Campaign Evolved. Additionally, an event of this type would also be a logical showcase for projects from Bethesda and Activision, with high-profile titles scheduled for the final stretch of 2026, such as The Elder Scrolls VI, Fallout 5, or the new annual installment of Call of Duty.
For now, Microsoft has not officially confirmed this second Developer Direct, but Jez Corden’s words reinforce the feeling that 2026 will be an especially active year for Xbox in terms of communication, with more than one major event marked on the calendar.
