In recent weeks, hints related to the future of the Resident Evil saga have not stopped appearing. Between comments from actors, movements on social media, and anniversary rumors, many took for granted that the next major announcement from Capcom would focus on a new version of the fifth numbered installment.
However, a new leak completely changes the focus. According to one of the most reliable voices when it comes to the saga, the remake that will be announced in 2026 will not be the fifth installment, but another one that fans have been demanding for years.
The remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica would be Capcom’s big announcement
Dusk Golem, known for providing accurate information about the franchise on multiple occasions, has assured that Capcom will announce the remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica in 2026. In a message posted on X, the leaker was especially clear in ruling out any presentation related to Resident Evil 5.
According to him, the Code Veronica project would have been in development since 2022, while the revision of the fifth installment would not have yet received the green light internally. This would be in line with previous comments from the insider himself, who already pointed to Code Veronica as one of the priority projects within Capcom’s remake strategy.
If this information is true, the game starring Claire Redfield could hit the market in 2027, coinciding with a very active period for the franchise. Meanwhile, Capcom already has the release of Resident Evil Requiem marked on the calendar, scheduled for February 27, 2026 on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, which reinforces the idea that the next big announcement would come after its release.
