One of the highlights of the State of Play held tonight was the presentation of the remake of Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly, one of the most beloved installments in the series. The title, developed by Team Ninja, will be released on March 12, 2026 and will feature Spanish text, something that fans have been asking for for a long time.
The new trailer showed a completely renovated visual section, with advanced lighting, camera effects, and modernized animations, while maintaining the classic essence of Japanese psychological horror. In this new version, we will once again control the twin sisters Mio and Mayu, trapped in a cursed village where only the Camera Obscura can save them from the spirits that lurk.
Team Ninja confirms technical improvements and special editions
During the event, it was confirmed that the game will have two editions: a standard one and a Deluxe Edition, which will include alternative costumes and exclusive additional content. Reservations will open in the next few hours through the digital stores of each platform.
The remake will offer 4K resolution, 3D audio, and full compatibility with haptic controllers on next-generation consoles. Additionally, Team Ninja has guaranteed a more fluid experience, with an improved camera and controls adapted to current standards.
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake will be available on March 12, 2026 on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, PC (Steam), and Nintendo Switch 2, with Spanish text from its release. A perfect opportunity to rediscover one of the great references of Japanese horror.
