In its latest financial report, Sony has highlighted the crucial role that live service games are playing within its catalog. According to the company itself, this type of experience (including Helldivers 2 and MLB The Show 25) already represents 40% of the total revenue from its first-party games, a figure that remains stable compared to the previous quarter.
The most striking fact comes with the explicit mention of Xbox. Lin Tao, one of the company’s financial executives, acknowledged the great performance of the Xbox versions, pointing out that multi-platform titles have not only expanded the player base but also driven sales and participation on PlayStation and PC.
The positive effect of the leap to Xbox
The most evident case is that of Helldivers 2, which has maintained a solid sales pace on Xbox Series, attracting thousands of new players. Its launch in August has contributed to reinforcing Sony’s multi-platform strategy, which seems willing to continue this model with future productions.
Meanwhile, MLB The Show 25 continues to consolidate itself as one of the company’s most profitable sports licenses, with notable figures on all platforms where it is available.
Sony’s message is clear: live service games and multi-platform releases are working better than ever, and the presence on Xbox is proving key to sustaining that growth. A sign that, even in the midst of competition, the model of openness and expansion seems to be yielding positive results for all players.
