A week before its release, the ROG Xbox Ally X has already been seen in action thanks to a leaked video that’s generating a lot of buzz. Content creator Dans ta grosse poche has shared 45 minutes of real gameplay with a unit that, according to him, he received by mistake ahead of time. The result has served to test the potential of this improved version of the ASUS portable device firsthand.

During the footage, seven games can be seen running on the console: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Street Fighter 6, Gears of War: Reloaded, Elden Ring, Elden Ring: Nightreign, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Hollow Knight: Silksong. The goal of the video is not to perform a detailed technical test, but to show how the system behaves under normal usage conditions, without advanced adjustments or external measurement tools.
ROG Xbox Ally X confirms its power boost over the original model
- Hollow Knight: Silksong is the most efficient case: it exceeds 300 FPS in some sections and maintains 60 FPS fixed, even in low-power mode, with a temperature of just 46 °C.
Street Fighter 6 also shines: 60 FPS constant without needing to force high-performance modes, a sign that the AMD chip is performing as expected.
- In Gears of War: Reloaded, things remain just as solid: 60 FPS stable without resorting to the maximum profile, which speaks well of the optimization of Xbox ecosystem titles on the machine.
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 moves between 30 and 60 FPS in 1080p with settings close to medium-high, offering a consistent experience.
- With Monster Hunter Wilds, by default, it hovers around 30-40 FPS, but when AMD FSR with frame generation is activated, it jumps to 60 FPS stable, a clear example of the impact of scaling on this hardware.
The most demanding and perhaps the least optimized
- The most demanding case comes with Elden Ring and Nightreign: around 30 FPS in high quality; lowering to medium improves fluidity and the temperature drops from 75 °C to ~60 °C. As many on PC already know, it’s not a game famous for its optimization.
The creator himself summarizes his experience highlighting the consistency of performance and improved thermal management compared to the original ROG Ally. According to his words, “once you adjust a couple of parameters, the console behaves excellently“.
ROG Xbox Ally X will be released next week and promises to improve autonomy, cooling, and stability. ASUS will reveal new details in the coming days, but everything points to this portable model being one of the most solid options for playing Xbox and PC titles anywhere.
