Rumors about a possible return of the first Halo have been circulating for a while, and now they’ve gained momentum thanks to new information published by content creator MrRebs. According to him, Halo Combat Evolved Remake is currently in development by Abstraction Virtuous Studios, a team based in the Netherlands and part of Virtuous.
The project, according to these sources, is being built with a hybrid engine based on Unreal Engine 5, similar to what we’ve seen recently with Oblivion Remake. Additionally, the company has been hiring profiles specialized in the old Halo engines, which reinforces the possibility that the remake will maintain the technical essence of the original.
Halo Combat Evolved Remake, a highly anticipated return
Bungie’s classic marked a before and after for Xbox in 2001, becoming one of the most influential shooters in history. Its possible remake, developed with modern technology, could bring back that experience with updated graphics and mechanics, adapted to the current standard of the saga.
For now, there is no official confirmation from Microsoft or 343 Industries, so it’s best to take this information with caution. However, if confirmed, we would be facing one of the most anticipated projects by Xbox fans, especially after the success of previous remakes within and outside the saga.
