In recent hours, several Fortnite users on Xbox and other platforms have reported unexpected messages on their accounts: skins and turkey packages disappeared from their inventory along with a notice indicating that the payment had been canceled or refunded.
The situation generated considerable confusion, as some players indicated that these were purchases made months ago. However, Epic Games has issued an official statement to clarify what happened.
Epic Games’ Official Statement
According to Epic, what happened is related to an internal error:
“We have fixed a delay that prevented the immediate removal of refunded items on Xbox or previously gifted from fraudulent accounts. As a result, some players may see a message indicating that their payment was reversed or refunded, as well as the removal of cosmetics, even from transactions made several months ago.”
In other words, it’s not a recent failure in transactions, but an adjustment that Epic Games hadn’t executed at the right time. Now, with the system corrected, affected accounts show the removal of items that should have been withdrawn long ago.
The company also reminds us that these measures are necessary to protect the integrity of transactions and prevent items obtained fraudulently from circulating within the game.
Although it may be annoying for those affected months after their purchase, Epic assures that these corrections are part of the normal service maintenance and aim to balance the experience for the entire community.
