Arrowhead Game Studios continues to work on Helldivers 2, and although the game has received several free updates and paid content since its release last year, the company’s CEO, Shams Jorjani, has spoken about the long-term plans for the title. On the official Discord server for Helldivers 2, Jorjani mentioned that there are no current plans to start working on a sequel, and that, if luck has it, Helldivers 3 will be many years away.
Jorjani’s words reflect what community manager Katherine Baskin previously said, who mentioned that the studio has plans for Helldivers 2 in the coming years, although these are subject to change.
More Helldivers on the way
The studio has continued to support the game through the release of several free updates, as well as paid content in the form of Premium Warbonds. The most recent of these, Control Group, was released last week and brought alien technology-based weapons to the game. The goal, at least for now, is to continue this line, offering a mix of both with new items and, perhaps, new enemies in the future.
As the studio continues to work on the game, it is also preparing to bring the cooperative shooter to Xbox Series X/S on August 26. The Xbox Series X/S release of Helldivers 2 will have a price of 39.99 € for the standard edition and 59.99 € for the Super Citizen edition, and will also allow play with players on PC and PS5 thanks to cross-platform multiplayer. The Super Citizen edition will include a Warbond token that allows players to choose any of the available premium war bonds, instead of the inclusion of the Steeled Veterans Premium Warbond that was previously announced.
