The option has been officially discarded by the developers, despite the interest of the fans.

Since the release of patch 2.3, Cyberpunk 2077 has been back on the lips of many players. The update has brought substantial improvements, including a new free DLC, but there’s one request that continues to resonate strongly and, unfortunately, won’t become a reality: the third-person camera.

Through social media, some users directly asked CD Projekt RED if they were considering adding this option in future updates. The studio’s response was clear and direct: there are no plans to incorporate a third-person mode in Cyberpunk 2077. This makes it clear that any change in that direction is completely ruled out.
CD Projekt RED rules out third-person view for Cyberpunk 2077
The response shouldn’t come as a surprise. Adding a third-person camera isn’t trivial: it would involve redoing a large part of the game’s design, from animations and physics to the control system and how environments are presented. And considering the team is already focused on new projects, like Cyberpunk 2, it doesn’t seem viable to invest resources in that kind of redesign.
Still, many players continue to dream about what it would be like to explore Night City from outside the character’s body, seeing their clothes, style, and how they fit into the world. For now, that option is only available through mods on PC, and everything suggests it will remain that way.
The good news is that, although the game won’t be expanded in that sense, Cyberpunk 2077 is more polished than ever, with a very solid and content-rich version. CD Projekt RED has fulfilled its promise of redemption, and whatever comes next will be in the next installment.
Sorry, we have no such plans
