The situation within Microsoft Gaming continues to leave its mark, and one of the studios that was already rumored to be a candidate for cuts has finally been hit. According to Bloomberg, Turn 10 Studios has lost approximately 50% of its staff, in one of the most severe adjustments across the division.
The news comes just days after we reported on the possibility of Turn 10 being at the center of the new round of cuts here at Generación Xbox. Now it’s been officially confirmed: the studio behind Forza Motorsport has suffered a significant cut that puts its immediate role in the future of the Xbox catalog in doubt.
Turn 10 Studios, at the center of Microsoft’s internal cuts
This new wave of layoffs is part of the adjustments that Microsoft is implementing across different areas of the company. Although the hardware division has been largely spared, several internal studios are seeing significant staff reductions, such as Rare or Bethesda.
In the case of Turn 10, the 50% cut represents a considerable blow to the studio, which recently released a Forza Motorsport installment that failed to make the expected impact. It’s still unknown whether the studio’s future will involve restructuring, integration into another team, or taking on support functions within the Xbox ecosystem.
Microsoft has not issued a statement regarding Turn 10’s situation, but more details are expected to be clarified in the coming days about the roadmap for its internal teams following these moves.
