MindsEye hasn’t just launched with obvious technical issues, but it also lacks the support of its own protagonist. Actor Alex Hernández, who plays Jacob Díaz in Build a Rocket Boy’s title, has publicly shared his disappointment with the game’s state at launch.
In an interview with Check It TV, Hernández was clear in expressing that he does not support such business decisions where an incomplete product is released at full price, and as a player and consumer, he finds it concerning that these strategies are becoming normalized.
Criticism from within: the actor himself laments the state of MindsEye
“For some reason, Build a Rocket Boy decided to publish a problematic product and look for solutions later,” stated the actor. In his words, this model reminds him of cases like Cyberpunk 2077, and he believes that releasing a broken title damages the company’s reputation in the long run.
“You can’t launch something that’s not 100% complete and then ask users to pay 100% of the price”, Hernández stated. He added that many companies sell products that seem more like beta versions than final releases, and that players should be clearly informed before making a purchase.
Despite MindsEye having already received several updates, technical issues continue to be a source of complaint in the community, and statements like those from its own protagonist only increase the pressure on the studio. The question now is whether Build a Rocket Boy will manage to regain the trust of players… or if the damage is already done.
