Resident Evil Requiem has not been released yet and is already breaking records

Resident Evil Requiem won’t hit stores until February 27, 2026, but that hasn’t stopped it from becoming one of the most anticipated releases in the coming months, without a doubt. Capcom has revealed that the new chapter in the saga has already been added to over a million wishlists on platforms like Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox.

This figure has been achieved just two weeks after its official announcement during the Summer Game Fest 2025, demonstrating the enormous interest this new episode of the franchise has sparked. Capcom itself has wanted to thank fans for their support through social media, highlighting that it’s one of the most closely followed releases since its reveal.

Requiem aims to be one of the darkest and most personal Resident Evil games

The project introduces Grace Ashcroft as the main protagonist for the first time, a character far removed from the traditional heroes of the series, with a more introspective and psychological focus. The game will alternate between first and third-person perspectives, offering a hybrid experience in oppressive environments inspired by titles like PT or Alien: Isolation.

Among the confirmed scenarios is a devastated Raccoon City, whose ruins will serve as the backdrop for a completely new story, marked by isolation, distrust, and the presence of human and biological enemies. Capcom has not yet detailed many aspects of the gameplay (we know it can be played in third or first person), but has already announced that the game will not feature cooperative play and will instead focus on a closed and claustrophobic atmosphere, where resource management and exploration will once again play a central role.

Although there are still months to go, fans can expect new updates at upcoming Capcom events. If the growth rate continues, everything points to the new Resident Evil potentially breaking pre-order records even before its official release.
