In the statement addressed to all employees, Sharma explained that the restructuring is not intended to reduce Xbox’s aspirations, but to lay the foundations for a much more solid growth phase. Among her statements, one phrase stands out that perfectly summarizes this new strategy:

I want Xbox to be one of the few companies that entertains billions of people every day and gives everyone the opportunity to create and connect.

The executive also ensured that Xbox will continue to invest strongly, although with a much more focused, disciplined, and centered strategy on the areas considered key to recovering growth starting from 2027.

An objective of this magnitude poses a huge challenge. Currently, no video game platform reaches a similar number of daily users, so Xbox’s ambition seems to go far beyond the traditional console business. The bet on Game Pass, cloud gaming, multi-platform publishing, and services capable of connecting millions of people fits with this vision of building an accessible ecosystem from any device.

Although it remains to be seen how this strategy will translate in the coming years, the message leaves one idea clear: Xbox wants to become a global entertainment platform, with a scope far superior to what the brand has historically had, and with the intention of reaching a much broader audience than just console gamers.
