Despite previous claims to the contrary, NetEase Games’ Marvel Rivals will receive its first cooperative PvE mode on October 23, 2025. Based on Marvel Zombies, which has gained popularity after its recent series on Disney+, it features Blade, The Punisher, Thor, Jeff, and Magick fighting against hordes of undead.
A classic PvE mode, similar to those seen in other games of the genre like Overwatch, arrives at the perfect time with Halloween just around the corner.
Zombies land in Marvel Rivals
But it’s not just this new game mode that’s being added, the heroes available in it will also receive new abilities, including a permanent Awakened state for Thor, unlimited Darkchild form for Magick, Jeff charging through hordes, and more. An unmentioned ability is Punisher’s turret, which acts autonomously while he’s free to shoot enemies separately. Although there are five heroes, only four can be played during each match.
For now, we only have a brief teaser, and a full trailer is expected to arrive in the coming days, revealing this new experience in all its glory. And yes, we hope to see Scarlet Witch, the so-called Queen of the Dead (at least in the Marvel Zombies series), in action as the final boss of this mode.
Marvel Rivals is available for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Season 4: Heart of the Dragon is currently live, with Daredevil recently added as a new duelist.
