Windows 11 is now officially receiving the new Xbox Mode, a feature designed to enhance the gaming experience on PC and make Windows more comfortable when playing with a controller or on portable devices.
Microsoft has already publicly showcased how this new mode works, confirming several key improvements related to performance, latency, interface, and system optimization while gaming.
These are the improvements brought by the new Xbox Mode in Windows 11
Here are some of the main confirmed improvements for Xbox Mode:
- New, fully optimized interface for controllers
Windows 11 can now boot up with an experience much closer to Xbox, designed for comfortable play from the couch or on portable devices. - Improved game performance
Microsoft promises improvements in FPS and also in the 1% lows, which is important for a more stable experience. - Fewer unnecessary processes and tasks
The system automatically reduces desktop elements and background processes to free up resources while gaming. - Lower controller latency
Xbox Mode also optimizes controller response for faster and more precise controls. - Compatibility with external launchers
Players will be able to launch titles from Steam, Epic Games Store, and other platforms without losing the integrated Xbox experience.
All this is part of Microsoft’s goal to create a more unified ecosystem between Xbox, PC, and future portable devices. It also directly aligns with Project Helix and the strategy of offering a recognizable Xbox experience regardless of the device you play on.
Although the rollout will be progressive, Xbox Mode aims to become one of the most significant gaming improvements Windows 11 has received since its launch.
