The Callisto Protocol is one of the most anticipated games of the year’s end. And for good reason – we’re talking about the spiritual successor to Dead Space, created by the minds behind the original title and with a special focus on gore. A gore that took several years to develop, as its creators admitted.
Now, Glen Schofield, creator and mastermind behind this new title, has explained to Game Informer how this new project came about and how they arrived at it.
The Callisto Protocol introduces the Biophage, a new enemy
The video, published on the website’s Youtube channel, lasts over six minutes and, along with Glen’s explanation, we get to see new gameplay phases. In essence, and as he comments in the preview, the origin of The Callisto Protocol was to see how far they could go and what they could create. Then came the idea of filling the void left by Dead Space and becoming its spiritual successor, without knowing that EA had the remake of the original game in mind.
Additionally, in the gameplay scenes from the preview, we’re introduced to a new enemy, the Biophage. On the other hand, we get another look at the incredible visuals of the interior of Jupiter’s moon, as well as the powerful shotgun with which we’ll be able to defend ourselves against all creatures.
The Callisto Protocol will arrive on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5 this coming December.
