PS5 Players Plan to Sabotage Xbox Users in Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2, one of the biggest cooperative successes of the year and awarded as Best Multiplayer at The Game Awards 2024, is getting ready for its launch on Xbox Series on August 26th. However, the game’s arrival on Xbox consoles doesn’t seem to be well-received as we have learned, at least according to several messages that have started circulating on social networks like X (Twitter).

Some players have expressed their rejection of the game’s release on Xbox and claim to be organizing boycotts within the game itself, taking advantage of the fact that Helldivers 2 includes friendly fire, which allows players to damage other players on the same team.

The most viral message states:

We may not be able to stop the release, but Helldivers 2 has team kills. We’ll ruin the experience for Xbox players from day one. Use high-level strategies on your team, waste lives, ruin extractions, steal samples…

These types of statements have generated concern within the community, as the game has active crossplay between Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, meaning all users will share matches from day one. Although the system doesn’t reveal the exact console model each player is on, it does identify the general platform (Xbox, PS, or PC), which could be used to carry out coordinated sabotage.

The good news is that the game allows you to disable crossplay, a feature that can be useful if these behaviors become frequent. However, Arrowhead has not commented on these messages or announced specific measures against this form of toxicity.
