Minecraft receives one of its largest updates in years: these are all the announced news

Minecraft continues to evolve, and Mojang has already shown a sneak peek of the next major update coming to the game. The studio has confirmed a long list of new features that will expand the possibilities of building, exploration, and survival, including new blocks, biomes, structures, and mechanics that have been requested by the community for years.

Without a doubt, one of the features that has caught the most attention is a historical request from players. After almost 17 years, the world’s most popular sandbox game will finally allow characters to sit down, a simple feature on paper, but highly demanded since the game’s early years.

Everything coming in the next Minecraft update

• Cushions: a new block available in 16 colors that will allow players to sit directly on it. It can be placed on top of other blocks and will open up new possibilities for decorating houses and constructions.
• Speckled Forest: a new biome with taller trees and more open spaces, designed to facilitate exploration on horseback.
• Straw Bed: a single-use bed that will allow players to spend the night without modifying their spawn point, ideal for expeditions far from their base.
• Shelf Fungi: new fungi that will grow on trees. They can be used as an ingredient for recipes, decorative element, or even as part of parkour routes thanks to their elastic properties.
• Quaking Aspen Wood: a new set of construction blocks with a warm gray finish designed to combine especially well with stone.
• Abandoned Camps: new structures that will appear scattered across different biomes. They will include tents, extinguished campfires, treasure chests, and even the possibility of finding hidden treasures.

The addition of the ability to sit is, probably, the most symbolic change in the entire update. For years, the community has resorted to mods and all sorts of clever tricks to simulate this action, something that will finally become an official part of the game.

For now, Mojang has not confirmed the release date of this update, but everything suggests that it will be one of the most comprehensive updates in recent times, further strengthening a game that, almost two decades after its debut, continues to receive significant new features.
