Playground Games has decided to break away from the idea of starting as a superstar and return to a more progressive approach, directly inspired by the first Forza Horizon.

The initial presentation already made its intentions clear, but now we know new details that delve deeper into what the experience will be like: a more marked progression system, a world that unlocks in phases, and a stronger focus on personalization, exploration, and social life within the map.

Forza Horizon 6 recovers its essence and takes it to a new level

One of the most significant changes is the return of the wristband system. In Forza Horizon 6, you start as a simple tourist, advancing gradually until you reach the gold wristband, at which point a new island region is unlocked, complete with exclusive events, zones, and challenges. Progression once again has real weight, something many players have been asking for for years.

The initial content will be particularly ambitious: 550 cars available from the start, the possibility of applying decals to windows, and a clear emphasis on advanced customization, including new body kits and the return of Forza Aero, revamped after years of requests. Additionally, it will now be possible to find and buy aftermarket cars parked around the world at very low prices, reinforcing exploration and the sense of discovery.

The map also takes a huge leap. The Tokyo-themed urban area will be five times larger than any city seen before in the series, divided into five distinct districts and with a strong emphasis on verticality.

The car meets are back, where you can share designs and creations, and houses now play a key role, with decorable garages, the possibility of inviting other players, and a clear inspiration from titles like Project Gotham Racing, Test Drive Unlimited, or GTA V. A permanent estate in a valley has even been confirmed, which can be built from scratch and is visible in a stable form on the map.

On a technical and systems level, Forza Horizon 6 incorporates significant improvements to car sound effects, an EventLab that allows cooperative building, and new accessibility options, such as a proximity radar designed for more competitive and precise racing.

With everything shown and the latest confirmations, Forza Horizon 6 is shaping up to be the most ambitious and transformative installment in the series, recovering ideas from the past and taking them much further. A clear change of direction that redefines what it means to start a new adventure in Horizon.
