Without warning, Japanese publisher Com2uS has announced Gachiakuta The Game, a brand-new video game directly inspired by the highly successful anime and manga series that has gained enormous popularity worldwide, especially after its Western debut last summer via Crunchyroll.
The title is defined as a Survival Action RPG, and its story will follow the main events of the original series. For now, information is quite limited, but it has been confirmed that the game is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, although it still lacks an official release window.
A first teaser and many unanswered questions
- The announcement has been accompanied by a first teaser of almost two minutes, in which the protagonist Rudo can be seen facing one of the creatures from the so-called Celestial Realm. Beyond this brief glimpse of the game’s action and tone, Com2uS has not shared additional details about the game’s mechanics, structure, or scope.
For those unfamiliar with the original work, Gachiakuta debuted as a manga in 2022, created by Kei Urana with the creative support of designer and screenwriter Hideyoshi Andou. Its anime adaptation has been one of the most talked-about releases of the year, and the first season has just concluded, with its final episode airing on December 21.
Now, all eyes are on both the newly announced video game and the upcoming season 2 of the anime, which, according to rumors, could premiere between winter and spring 2027, with 24 episodes already ordered for production. For the time being, we must wait for Com2uS and the franchise’s responsible parties to start revealing more information about this ambitious leap into the world of video games.
