More than a decade after its original release in 2015, Fallout 4 has made its way back to the top-selling games list in the United States. According to the latest data published by Circana for January 2026, the title has managed to secure the 20th spot in the rankings, sharing the list with recent releases and current bestsellers.
We’re not talking about a newly released edition or a sequel. It’s the same post-apocalyptic RPG that marked an entire generation, now fueled by a new media context and renewed public attention.
The series effect and the Anniversary Edition boost Fallout 4
One of the key factors behind this resurgence is the success of the TV series based on the franchise, produced by Amazon Prime Video in collaboration with Bethesda. The conclusion of its second season in early February has rekindled interest in the Fallout universe, leading many players (new and veteran) to return to the Commonwealth.
This is added to the recent announcement of the Anniversary Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, which marks the arrival of a major Fallout game to a Nintendo platform for the first time. Although this version does not directly explain the increase in sales on other platforms, it has contributed to putting the focus back on the game.
Ten years later, Fallout 4 proves that some experiences don’t expire. Between nostalgia, media pull, and the curiosity of new audiences, Bethesda’s RPG finds its place again among the top-selling games of the moment.
