The announcement of Halo: Campaign Evolved has brought millions of fans back to the starting point of the saga. The official trailer, in addition to confirming its release in 2026, has served for the well-known creator ElAnalistaDeBits to publish a comparison that shows how the game has evolved from its original 2001 version to this ambitious remake developed under Unreal Engine 5.
The video evidence the biggest visual and technical leap in the history of the franchise. From volumetric lighting and hyper-realistic textures to the complete redesign of iconic environments like the Silent Cartographer or Halo, the new remake seeks not only to improve what is known, but to reinterpret the work from a modern perspective.
A complete remake with technical and playable improvements
Unlike the remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary released in 2011, Halo: Campaign Evolved is a total reconstruction of the original campaign, with new cinematics, revised physics, and updated animations. Additionally, it introduces improvements that transform the classic experience without altering its essence: now the Master Chief can run, aim with precision, and pilot an enemy Wraith for the first time.
- The remake also expands the arsenal with nine additional weapons taken from later installments, and incorporates a completely redesigned “Skulls” system, which allows for customization of enemy behavior, weapon types, or even vehicle appearances. All this, combined with the option to play in local co-op with split screen or online for four players, gives new life to a campaign that remains legendary.
In the words of the developers themselves, the goal has not been to replace the classic, but to “recreate what you felt the first time you played Halo, not what you saw on screen“. The work of Halo Studios starts from the base code of the original, preserving its physics and rhythm, but wrapping it in a completely updated technical presentation.
With Halo: Campaign Evolved, Xbox seeks to revive the spirit that marked the birth of the brand over two decades ago, combining nostalgia, innovation, and fidelity to the values of the original. The game will arrive on Xbox Series, PC, and PlayStation 5 in 2026, and will be available from day one on Xbox Game Pass.
