After months of rumors and leaks, there’s finally a clear sign of the release of Silent Hill 2 Remake on Xbox Series. The game has just been officially rated by the ESRB (the US age rating agency), which practically confirms its arrival on Microsoft’s console.
The listing, published on the ESRB’s official database, lists the title with Xbox Series as the platform and a “Mature 17+” rating for violence, blood, gore, strong language, and sexual themes. This registration not only indicates that development is in its final stretch.
Silent Hill 2 Remake for Xbox Series: rating details
According to the organization’s description, the game is a third-person survival horror adventure in which players “take on the role of a man who returns to a mysterious town while being haunted by his past”. The text mentions the presence of firearm and melee combat, enemies like Pyramid Head, and abundant violent visual content, with blood, wounds, and visible organs in the environments.
The ESRB also details that Silent Hill 2 contains scenes of extreme violence, sexual content, and mature language, maintaining the dark and disturbing atmosphere that defined the 2001 classic. Everything points to Bloober Team and Konami wanting to preserve the visual and emotional crudeness of the original work, taking advantage of the technical capabilities of current consoles.
Although Konami has not officially announced the release date on Xbox, this rating is an unequivocal sign that the announcement is close. The remake could be presented as one of the major bets for the end of the year or, even, to start 2026 with force in the Xbox Series catalog.
