The universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender will return in 2026 with a very different proposal from the usual ones. The studio Gameplay Group International has officially presented Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, a 2D fighting game that combines speed, traditional animation, and a system designed for players of all levels.
The game will arrive in summer 2026 on Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, and has already shown its first trailer with gameplay, where several of the classic scenarios and characters from the animated series can be seen.
A fighting game that’s accessible but with depth
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game aims to offer an immediate and direct experience, with simple controls but ample possibilities for technical mastery. Its creators describe it as “easy to learn, hard to master”, with completely hand-drawn animations that pay homage to the original visual style of Nickelodeon.
At launch, it will feature 12 fighters, each with their own techniques and styles, as well as special attacks and unique movements inspired by the four elements. The developers have already confirmed that more characters will be added in future seasons, along with new modes and arenas.
The title will include, from day one, a single-player campaign with an original story, as well as online multiplayer, local battles, combo trials, an art gallery, and unlockable content. Everything points to it being one of the most complete adaptations of the Avatar universe to date.
